Traditional Telephony
Although traditional digital telephony is now seemingly being consigned to the past, it is still a prevalent technology used by companies across the world. In spite of the growth of IP Telephony, traditional PBX installations continued to be used and often the investments in such systems are written off over many years. This makes the transition to IP telephony more complex and sometimes costly.
Using this case study, the transition to IP telephony can be achieved using a phased migration approach. This protects the investment in legacy digital PBX equipment whilst potentially leveraging the cost savings provided by Voice over IP VoIP). Then, once a decision to migrate fully to IP Telephony is taken, the final phase is much less complicated.
This phased migration can be deployed in different ways for instance using media gateways to convert voice traffic from the digital network to IP, keeping the central call processing on the legacy PBX. Another way could be through a hybrid model that uses an existing PBX with an IP module as the call processing agent and calls be routed over an IP network.
Whichever strategy is to be deployed, ConvergeOne will be on hand to help with either the transition to Voice over IP or simply support the existing traditional equipment. The current vendors that we support include.
